Skin color comes from a pigment called melanin. When the melanin gets damaged or becomes unhealthy it changes to pigmentation or tone of the skin.  If your body makes too much melanin or is exposed to a lot of sun, it will make the skin darker all over or in spots.

Baby smooth skin - that's what everyone wants. Why does the texture of our skin change as we age? Over the years our skin is exposed to elements in the air such as pollution, sun exposure, dry winter weather, acne, all of these are elements damage our skin every day for our entire lives.  As we age, collagen production also slows which changes the texture of the skin.

​Most of us begin to see a change in elasticity in the skin around age 35. Fluctuations in weight and the stretching of the skin over time changes skin's appearance. The slowing of collagen productivity, sun exposure, and yes, gravity are all causes of loose, sagging skin.
